Hi,
Why does no one fix this? Sounds have been broken for years. Unless maybe you use IE, I haven't tried.
HTML5 has been out for a good while, what about using the audio tag? It'd work in any modern browser, and not require flash.
yes, they work with IE
But not everyone uses, or has IE for that matter. What about all the Mac/Linux/*BSD people?
well, everything works with safari on mac, I know, I have used macs for years.
Hi!
I have zone sounds playing on Trisquel and Debian boxes having the Mozilla browser. To do this, I enabled JScript for the zone, and installed gecko-mediaplayer browser plugins. Also, I turned a bunch of other plugins off, in favor of their gecko-mediaplayer equivalents.

With the latest Safari updates and El Capitan, I can't hear audio including audio
profiles. I've searched and searched for compatibility settings. Including
allowing plug-ins to run, which was set to Save Power, that's under Advanced.
I'm using a Mac Mini so having that set to save power didn't make sense.
I suspect there's something that one can set to enable all this, and I just don't
know what it is yet. Would be helpful if those that actually have gotten this to
work on the mac would say so.
You just hear around the Zone that someone or other can hear sounds on the
Zone via the mac.
Doesn't seem to be a compatibility setting like IE has.
I think it's got something to do with quicktime or something. Apple wont fix the issue with safari from what I red a while back, because the quicktime plug-in for safari isn't supported in el cap.
Lio, the only thing you have is a developer menu, which you have to have it to show in settings, but even if you tell it to use a different user agent, it wont work at all. if you tried to have the quicktime plug-in be enabled, even if you have it from a previous version of safari and you drop it into your internet plug-ins folder, it will outright ignore it as if it's not even there, even though you know you dropt it in your internet plug-ins folder, and that's again because quicktime content isn't supported in safari in el cap
Thanks and excellent explanation. I wonder why they don't just support the
same file format using a newer plugin then. Interesting.
I wish I had the answer to that question. This was what I red a while back that
they replied to someone in an email and that's what they said, that they wont
fix the issue
Technically it's not their issue, it's Apple not finding a way to support the type of
short streaming formats that Quicktime used to. My opinion, not having access
to the source to this particular site.
Sounds work fine for me. I only noticed that they don't work well with firefox,
but anywhere else they work fine. They don't work on safari for the iPhone,
but they don't work there for anyone.
Hi Leo. If you want sounds on the Mac, you can always use Google Chrome.
I am not able to use Google Chrome very well, as it is rather slow, and I may just not be used to that brouser and how to use it, but Firefox rworks for me, taht is, all but the sounds. I am not really sure if explanations I've seen in these posts fixes the problem, but I'd love to hear if anyone has ever been able to make them work using Firefox. I have an notebook with XP on it. I use Window Eyes or NVDA. Any suggestions?
I have also played it on my iPhone, and no, they will not play there either, too bad. I love doing Anagrams and just hearing the sound to tell me whether the word is right or wrong without having to scroll all over the place on the computer or the phone to check. Not having sounds to listen to is rather annoying.

I thought it was just me. Irked about sounds not playing. So in a nutshell,
there's nothing the average mac user can do to correct this frustration?
Yes there is.
Even after you install Sierra it still works.
In your library folder there is Plugins, then under that is Disabled Plugins.
Move the QuickTime file from Disabled Plugins up one level into Plugins.
Remember Command option v will move instead of copy.
Just did it recently after having updated to Sierra.
I'm not the Mac Daddy some people are. I just use mine recreationally.
Where is this folder located? Can't find it.
Used to be there and isn't there anymore after one of the recent updates.
Dunno if or how one could do it. I suggest Chrome like everyone else does now,
but I'm personally still using Safari since the sounds aren't that important to me
anymore.
